BCQS Attends 7th Annual CHICOS Conference in Bermuda

BCQS Directors Liam Day, James Slattery and Simon Taylor recently attended the 7th annual CHICOS Conference from November 9-10 at The Hamilton Princess in Bermuda. The Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference & Operations Summit has proven itself as the premier hospitality conference in the region. The event drew many returning guests as well as several first-time attendees.

The tone of the conference was very upbeat with continued grow thin the three industry KPI’s and a significant pipeline of new room inventory coming on line in the next 36 months.

Despite the devastation caused by Hurricanes’ Irma and Maria the underlying message coming out of those jurisdictions suffering the worst was that they will be back, bigger and better with many owners and operators taking the opportunity of an enforced closure to upgrade and improve their properties well beyond the scope of reinstatement work required.

Liam Day moderated a panel of experienced hospitality professionals that discussed strategies and initiatives for establishing best practice at the outset of a project that will help control development costs and schedules for both ground-up developments and the repositioning of existing assets. The panel focused on upfront risk mitigation and strategies for bringing projects back in line with the established cost and time parameters in the event that slippage in either does occur.
