BCQS International Attends SAHIC 2014 in Quito, Ecuador

BCQS International directors, Sanjay Amin, Liam Day and James Slattery recently attended the South American Hotel Investment Conference, SAHIC, held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Quito, Ecuador.

The two-day conference, held on the 15th and 16th September, was attended by over three hundred senior executives and decision makers from over twenty five countries and was organized by Hospitality Valuation Services, more widely known as HVS.

James Slattery, BCQS' Director with overall responsibility for Latin America, moderated a lively panel discussion entitled 'Boutique, Design, Independent Hotels'. The discussion posed such questions as Is this a trend for new developments? What is it that makes these independent hotels a true lifestyle hotel? Are they intended to offer a special, unique and exclusive guest experience? How does the business model work at the end of the day? How do we define boutique? The panel was a good mix of boutique hotel operators and representatives from the major brands who are looking to enter the 'boutique space' through their new 'lifestyle' offerings.

Speaking about the conference Liam Day commented 'This is the seventh event organized by HVS specifically focused on the South American hospitality sector and the fifth year we have been one of the main sponsors. The timing of this year's event coincided with BCQS finalising their association with Edward McGrath and Associates, based in Panama City, Panama. As such, the conference gave us the opportunity to market the association to new and existing clients adding to our ability to provide services on projects specifically in Panama, but also throughout Central America, in conjunction with Edward and his team.'

Sanjay Amin added, "We look forward to continuing the relationship with HVS and will indeed be returning as sponsors for SAHIC 2015, planned for September 2015 in Lima, Peru".
