BCQS Attends CHRIS and HOLA Conferences in Miami Florida

BCQS International directors, Sanjay Amin, Liam Day and James Slattery recently attended the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit, (CHRIS) and the Hotel Opportunities Latin America Investment Conference, (HOLA).

The two conferences took place back to back in Miami, Florida between the 29th April and 1st May and each were attended by over 300 delegates from the hospitality sector, including developers, brands, operators, financiers, consultants and representatives for the various governments of both regions.

As part of CHRIS, BCQS International Managing Director, Liam Day, moderated an interactive session entitled 'It Takes More Than A Hotel to Create a Destination – What Does It Really Take to Make a Destination and How Can You Make it Happen?' The session looked at the do's and don'ts of destination development and concluded that to be successful a destination must have multi-generational appeal, be well planned and phased, be developed in close partnership with government and be well represented online. In addition, Liam chaired the CHRIS 'Development of the Year' and presented the award to the winner, The Cove Eleuthera, represented by the owner Sidney D. Torres IV, during the awards lunch on the second day of the conference.

James Slattery, BCQS International's Director with overall responsibility for South America moderated a HOLA session entitled 'Investing in Latin America – The Ins and Outs of Doing Business Successfully in the Region'. The session looked at the potential pit-falls of doing business in Latin America from the differing perspectives of an attorney, a developer and hotel brand. Additionally, BCQS Director, Sanjay Amin moderated a session entitled ' Investors are off the Bench – Opportunities in All-Inclusive Resorts and When to Apply this Business Model'. This session looked at project dynamics and the key factors used to determine when the all-inclusive model makes most sense.

Speaking about the conferences Sanjay Amin commented 'This double event is now in it's fifth year and continues to work very well for us as it gives us the opportunity to efficiently market to new and existing clients from the two regions in which we operate. James Slattery added 'We have attended CHRIS & HOLA since inception and sponsored at a significant level for the last four years. We continue to see the business relationships that we have made previously flourish and give a return on our investment in terms of the commissions we have secured.'
