BCQS International completes the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands
BCQS has recently completed the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, which opened to the public in February 2012.
The design of the Gallery was won in a national competition by OAD Architects in 1998, and, the funds needed to develop the project were raised by donation and local sponsorship.
BCQS provided project and cost management services, which included assisting the National Gallery with value engineering and cost savings that ensured the project was completed within a very tight budget.
This landmark project includes two buildings linked by a covered walkway and an outdoor multi-purpose facility. The two-storey purpose-built gallery building provides approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of special exhibition space, which will be used to host a diverse schedule of temporary local and international exhibitions. The 3,500 sq. ft. single storey building houses an art studio, an administration office, and an auditorium and lecture theater with space to seat 50 plus people.
